Overview

What this course is

Task 1 Academic is the easiest part of Writing to score on if you have a fixed procedure, and the easiest to lose marks on for no good reason if you do not. This course builds exactly that procedure: read the chart, pick three or four things worth saying, write the overview, and only then write the body. Each chart type is handled separately, with its own sentence patterns and vocabulary for describing trends. You write to a model outline first, then drop the outline and write alone inside the 20-minute limit.

  • Learners who can write sentences but cannot decide which figures belong in the answer
