Entry

Entry requirements

These are the common thresholds for most programmes. Individual universities and departments may ask for more — the authoritative list is on the admissions page of the institution you are targeting.

  • Academic record

A GPA from 7.0 for undergraduate programmes; highly ranked universities usually expect 8.0 and up plus a clear extracurricular record.

  • English

IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 79 for most undergraduate programmes. Top universities ask for IELTS 7.0+ or TOEFL 100+.

  • Standardised tests

SAT is no longer required at many universities but still informs scholarship decisions. Master's programmes use GRE or GMAT depending on the field.

  • Finances

Proof of funds covering the first year (tuition plus living costs) so the university can issue the I-20 and so you can sit the visa interview.

Language preparation

Language roadmap

Accepted thresholds

  • IELTS 6.5 · Không kỹ năng nào dưới 6.0 ở phần lớn trường
  • TOEFL 79 · iBT; trường top thường yêu cầu 100+
  • SAT 1200 · Nhiều trường đã bỏ bắt buộc, nhưng điểm tốt giúp xin học bổng

IELTS 6.5 is the threshold for most undergraduate programmes. From an intermediate starting point, reaching it typically takes 8–12 months across three stages.

  1. Foundation

Consolidate grammar and academic vocabulary, and get used to all four skills in IELTS format. This stage ends around 5.0–5.5.

  2. Build-up

Skill-by-skill work, weighted towards Writing Task 2 and Speaking Part 3 — the two parts that drag the overall band down most. Target 6.0.

  3. Final push

Scheduled mock tests, detailed feedback and exam-room tactics. Target 6.5+ with no band below 6.0.

Process

Application steps

  1. Choose universities and a field

Build a list of 6–10 universities in three tiers: safety, match and reach. Check tuition against the family budget before you commit.

  2. Sit the tests

Complete IELTS or TOEFL, plus SAT where required. Leave room for at least one retake before the deadline.

  3. Submit applications

Complete the Common App or each university's own portal, and submit transcripts, references and the personal essay.

  4. Offer and I-20

The university issues an offer, then the I-20 once your funding is confirmed.

  5. Apply for the F-1 visa

Pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160, book and attend the consular interview. Be ready to explain your field, your funding and your plans after graduation.

Documents to prepare

A general checklist. A specific institution or visa category may require further documents.

  • A valid IELTS or TOEFL certificate
  • Personal essay and letters of recommendation
  • Proof of funds
  • The I-20 issued by the university

Services

Support packages

The centre handles the application work and the language preparation. Choosing the institution and the field of study stays with you.

The centre prepares and reviews applications, runs interview practice and teaches the language. Visa decisions rest with the immigration authority of the destination country and scholarship decisions rest with the awarding body — no one outside those two can guarantee an outcome.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I win a scholarship without SAT?

Yes. Many universities have dropped the SAT requirement and assess aid on academic record, essays and extracurriculars. Where it is still used, a strong SAT score remains a solid argument.

  • Is IELTS 6.0 enough?

Some universities accept 6.0 on condition that you take a language course before the main programme. For direct entry, aim for 6.5 with no band below 6.0.

  • What does a year cost?

Tuition of 25,000–55,000 USD depending on public or private, plus 12,000–20,000 USD of living costs depending on the state. Public universities in lower-cost states can come in well under that range.

  • Do you guarantee the visa?

No. The consulate decides, and no agency can guarantee that outcome. What we do is help you assemble a complete file and practise the interview so you present your case clearly.
