Entry

Entry requirements

These are the common thresholds for most programmes. Individual universities and departments may ask for more — the authoritative list is on the admissions page of the institution you are targeting.

  • Academic record

High school completion with a 6.5 average for foundation programmes, or 7.5 for direct first-year entry at many universities.

  • English

IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 for most undergraduate programmes. Medicine, pharmacy and teaching ask for more.

  • Finances

Proof of first-year tuition plus roughly 29,700 AUD of living costs, the figure published by the Department of Home Affairs.

  • GTE statement

A statement showing you genuinely intend to study: why that course, why that university, and what you plan to do afterwards.

Language preparation

Language roadmap

Accepted thresholds

  • IELTS 6.5 · Không kỹ năng nào dưới 6.0; một số ngành y và sư phạm yêu cầu 7.0
  • TOEFL 79 · iBT

Australia asks for IELTS 6.5 and also sets a floor on each individual band, so the roadmap has to lift all four skills rather than carry the overall score on two strong ones.

  1. Foundation

Diagnostic testing on each skill, academic vocabulary, and repair of underlying grammar. Target an even 5.5.

  2. Balancing

Time goes to the weakest skill, because Australia checks per-band floors rather than the overall score alone. Target 6.0 across all four.

  3. Final push

Regular mock tests with detailed Writing and Speaking feedback. Target overall 6.5 with a 6.0 floor.

Process

Application steps

  1. Choose a university and course

Weigh field, state and tuition. States outside Sydney and Melbourne are usually considerably cheaper.

  2. Apply and receive an offer

The university issues a conditional offer; meet the language condition to convert it into an unconditional one.

  3. Pay and obtain the CoE

Pay the first instalment and buy OSHC cover so the university can issue the CoE — a mandatory document for the visa.

  4. Apply for the subclass 500 visa

Apply online with your CoE, financial evidence and GTE statement, and complete the medical examination at an approved clinic.

  5. Prepare to travel

Book flights, arrange accommodation and complete enrolment before term starts.

A general checklist. A specific institution or visa category may require further documents.

  • A valid passport
  • High school transcripts and certificate, translated and certified
  • A valid IELTS certificate
  • Offer letter and CoE
  • OSHC health cover
  • Proof of funds
  • GTE statement

Services

Support packages

The centre handles the application work and the language preparation. Choosing the institution and the field of study stays with you.

The centre prepares and reviews applications, runs interview practice and teaches the language. Visa decisions rest with the immigration authority of the destination country and scholarship decisions rest with the awarding body — no one outside those two can guarantee an outcome.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the GTE and why does it matter?

It is the statement showing you are coming to Australia genuinely to study. Most visa refusals turn on this rather than on scores, so it needs to be specific about the course, the university and your plans afterwards.

  • Can part-time work cover my costs?

It offsets part of your living costs, but 48 hours per fortnight will not cover tuition. Your financial evidence still has to account for the full first year.

  • Which states are cheaper?

Adelaide, Perth and mid-sized Queensland cities are considerably cheaper than Sydney or Melbourne on rent, while tuition differs far less.

  • Do you guarantee the visa?

No. The Department of Home Affairs decides, and no agency can guarantee that. We help you assemble the file and write a complete, consistent GTE statement.
