DAAD EPOS Scholarship

About this scholarship

DAAD EPOS is an award from the German academic exchange service for English-taught master programmes, aimed at working professionals from developing countries.

The list of participating programmes is closed and published by DAAD — applying to a programme outside it means the file is not assessed, however strong the university.

What it covers

What the fund pays for. Exact amounts can change each round — check against the announcement for the open round.

  • A monthly living allowance for the full course
  • Health, accident and liability insurance
  • A one-off travel allowance
  • A German language course before enrolment on some programmes

Eligibility

Conditions published by the fund. Missing any one of these usually means rejection at the procedural stage, before the file reaches the selection panel.

  • Listed programme

Applications are only accepted for master programmes named on the EPOS list for the open round.

  • Work experience

Usually at least two years of work after the bachelor degree.

  • Graduation window

The bachelor degree usually must have been awarded within the last six years as at the deadline.

  • Language requirement

English-taught programmes require an English certificate; German-taught entry is a separate route with a CEFR threshold.

Documents to prepare

The documents usually required. Each round has its own official list published by the fund, so check again before submitting.

  • Bachelor degree and transcript with certified translation
  • A valid language certificate
  • A statement of purpose
  • Two to three reference letters
  • Academic CV
  • A valid passport
  • Proof of at least two years of work experience
  • A motivation letter on the DAAD template

How Wobridge Academy helps

The four steps below are what the centre does with you. The award decision rests with the fund panel — the centre cannot influence it, and does not promise on their behalf.

  1. Assess and plan

Take a placement test to measure the gap between your current level and the language threshold this award requires, then set a study plan around the months left before the deadline.

  2. Train to the threshold

Follow the plan with regular mock tests so progress stays measurable. This is the part the centre is responsible for.

  3. Review the file

Read through essays, reference letters and transcript conversions before submission, checked against the document list the fund publishes for the open round.

  4. Submit and track

Submit on time through the fund portal, then record the application number and response milestones. The award decision rests with the fund panel.

Frequently asked questions

  • How many programmes can I choose?

DAAD caps the number of choices per round, usually three. Exceeding it means procedural rejection, so read the open-round announcement carefully.

  • Can I apply before reaching the language threshold?

No. The certificate must be valid at the time of submission, and most funds reject incomplete files. Test early so there are enough months left to train.

  • Does the centre handle the whole application?

The centre teaches the language and reviews the file before submission. Essays and reference letters must still be your own — panels recognise ghost-written work quickly.
